ROB BEARDEN

South Carolina native Levon Kirkland is the newest addition to our panel alongside Lloyd Carr and John Harkes.
A former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker with an incredible 11 years in the NFL, Kirkland was also named NFL Alumni Linebacker of the year, MVP twice, as well as being part of the 1990’s NFL all-Decade-Team. During his 8 years with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he was recognized as one of the top inside linebackers in the league with a stellar performance resulting in a trip to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors.

Kirkland’s career on the field has resulted in many hits but his speed and ability to make the play while going for the win has helped him connect performing athletes together in an effective and operational team. We look forward to hearing him discuss the art and science of building great teams and helping them achieve maximum performance.

APPLY TO PITCH

Last year, Venture Pitch hosted a record number of venture capital principals from around the U.S. – the largest collection of VC’s in S.C!

A key reason for their participation is the opportunity to hear pitches from top ventures. To begin finding the best companies to put on stage this year, we’re pleased to open the pitch application process!

To apply,  entrepreneurs must email the following information to venturepitch@nextsc.org by Monday, March 18th.

  • Executive Summary: a brief 1-2 paragraph overview of your company as you would present it to potential investors

  • Traction: a short summary of recent market traction and investor interest/engagement

  • Pitch Deck: a draft pitch deck (assume a 5 minute pitch format)

Applicants will be notified of their status by Wednesday, March 25th with final pitch selections announced by Friday, March 29th.  All application information will be treated confidentially and will be used for pitch selection purposes only.

An independent Pitch Selection Committee will review all completed applications and determine the top 6-8 ventures to pitch. We anticipate, as in prior years, receiving applications from ventures across South Carolina and neighboring states.
